Kensington Market

This project focuses on self directed research and a future weed cafe mockup that could be a successful establishment in the culturally diverse Kensington in Toronto, Ontario.
Many people who visit his market may call it unusual, different, dirty but the people and vibe of the area are sure to leave a lasting impression. That being said, it is evident that in such a big city a small market like Kensington provides consumers with diversity and importance. Research suggests that the explosion of marijuana dispensaries in the market has helped revitalize the area. In twenty years, I feel that this area will have more marijuana dispensaries and/or eatery’s that introduce a completely new eating experience.
My idea was to come up with an eatery that is run like a Starbucks and in a sense would sell marijuana edibles and freshly pressed juice casually but still closely regulated. This area focuses heavily on the consumer and a one on one experience that smaller companies are able have. I feel like in 20 years the introduction of more greenhouses and solar power will be introduced to grow and harvest goods. Having a greenhouse attached to my eatery would provide a new service and visual language.
